Cake in a Cup

My daughter came home from school yesterday with her friend and they were craving chocolate. My daughter’s friend said “Hey, have you ever heard of cake in a mug?” And right away they took off on a crafty cooking project. It’s simple and smashes your will-power into bits since it can be made anytime within 5 minutes with a small amount of ingredients.

The girls put all the ingredients in the one mug and cooked it in that same mug. But, if it were me, I would have stirred up the ingredients in one mug and then poured the batter into a new clean mug so it would have been a cleaner final mug especially if you’re giving this mug and cake as a gift. (the cake can also be popped out of the mug and given without it)

You’ll need a microwave oven

A large microwavable mug

4 Tablespoons flour

9 Tablespoons hot chocolate mix

1 pinch of salt

1 egg

3 Tablespoons water

3 Tablespoons oil

3 teaspoons chocolate chips (optional)

Cooking Spray

The cooking spray is to keep the cake from sticking to the mug but other than that just pour all the ingredients in, stir lightly, and cook in the microwave for 3 minutes.

Seriously, this took 5 minutes total.

QUICK IDEA: If someone is coming over for coffee, make this in a small pan, cut it up and serve it as a quick sweet delight on a small cute serving plate with the coffee.
