Life for John and Lara Brennan (Russell Crowe, Elizabeth Banks) is miserable after she is convicted of a murder she says she did not commit. Three years later while struggling with the demands of work and raising his son alone, John is still trying to establish her innocence. When her final appeal is rejected, John has only one option left: Break her out of prison.
I really don’t have a lot of bad things to say about this film but first off, some of the parts are a little over the top like the scene with her friend at dinner during their double date. Then a few parts here and there where they test the intelligence of their audience by having too many unbelievable coincidences.
Other than that, the acting was very good. I especially liked how Russell Crowe looked at his wife with sincere hope and pity (very believable here) while planning a huge breakout for her on his free time. The story was good and kept our attention -the movie had heart.
My husband liked it. I liked it too. I think you’ll like it. Rent it.
