Usually, Monday mornings I blog about the movie I rented the weekend before but not this week. This weekend was my daughter’s 14th birthday and she wanted to go to a drive-in movie.
How could I not jump on this great family fun idea? We went to Valley 6 Drive-in Theater (established in 1968!) About 25 minutes from Mercer Island (mid-Seattle). It’s a clean, family friendly theater. There was plenty of staff around to help get your car properly hooked up with sound and the snack bar and restrooms were clean. (Really, the staff was great)
The movie starts as soon as the sun goes down (dusk)
It’s fun because you can bring your dog, pillows, blankets, munch on pizza and popcorn, slurp your drinks, and talk all you want. They show double features but you can leave after one movie -we stayed for both movies. We watched Rio & Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2. I think I actually preferred Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2. I must say it was funny. Anyway, everyone had a great time including our dog.
If you go, please support the theater by buying your food at the snack bar. I hope this theater can manage to stay around for many more years to come.
