What is the most important thing in a relationship? Is it sense of humor? Excitement? Understanding? Well, yes. Those are all important beginnings to the structure. But if there is one thing that defines whether or not you want to continue that relationship it’s trust. Honesty. Truth.
Teach your children to be truthful. It could start out with small things. Let them know that lying is really “Being ashamed of what you’re done.” Teach your children to be true to themselves and others. If you don’t want to do things that you are ashamed of, you’ll have no reason to lie about the things you’ve done. Let them know that you have to trust them and they have to trust you. Relationships are based on trust and the most important ingredient in family, friendships, and relationships. Teach your kids to be truthful. Don’t lie.
