Polish your wood floors with coconut oil

Share

Yesterday, I was putting coconut oil on the ends of my daughter’s hair to condition it before she took a shower. In that process, I accidentally dropped some on our kitchen wood floor So I just rubbed it in with a rag. Looking at it throughout the day yesterday I realized it created a beautiful shine and took out the water spots that have been there through many moppings.

So, this morning I woke up and plopped a heaping tablespoon of coconut oil on the floor, wetted a flat bottom mop with hot water and rubbed that oil into my entire wood floor. Careful to keep the kids and dogs out during this part so they won’t slip.

After mopping the floor with the oil and hot water mixture, I took a big dry cotton rag and buffed the floor with the rag under my foot. (Yes, NOT on my hands and knees). The floor buffed out beautifully with a nice even shine, corners are clean and previous water spots are gone!

wish I took a before and after – completely thrilled with the result.

done in 10-15 minutes!

Brilliant! Were these true hardwoods or laminate flooring?

      Hi Traci,

These are real hard wood floors and they still look amazing one week later. They used to have sort of like dust between the planks and some water spots that wouldn’t come out and I’m not kidding when I say they look like new. Just be careful not to slip during the water and oil part. The buffing is the fun part because that’s when you see instant gratification! Take care and thanks for reading!
